Michigan public school students are taking standardized tests earlier and earlier. As early as 3rd grade, students are tested — and tracked — using standardized tests that become part of their permanent record.
Often teachers in any school – small or large, private or public – may not have the time to give individualized test prep to students. They also may not have the latest information on the various tests now mandated.
The team at The Student Connection can zero in on where a student needs guidance. Tutors work directly on what each student needs with the student. For example, in the following case, a young student prepared for what was going to be on the IOWA Test.
Kate from Royal Oak worked with The Student Connection for three weeks in advance of the IOWA tests administered this fall. After each session, Kate’s parents could see the confidence building in preparation for her test. Her parents report that each day she came home “beaming” from the one on one help she got and the confidence she was building.
After each day of testing, Kate would report she did great on the test. A few weeks later, Kate’s assumption of how she did was confirmed. Her Complete Composite was 74%. The prior 2 years, her Complete Composite was 20%. In fact she increased 51% in ELA (English Language Arts) skills and 45% in the math section.
“Thank you so much Kirsten for giving Kate the confidence and test taking skills to achieve these scores! Now that we have started our kids early on how to achieve success on standardized tests…taking the ACT and SAT will be easy!” – Kate’s Parents
